The Women's Artistic Gymnastics (WAG) and Men's Artistic Gymnastics (MAG) Queensland State Club Championships, Masters & Special Olympics Challenge is back again this year, once again returning to the Caloundra Indoor Stadium from 10-13 April, 2026.

Gymnasts compete in club teams to take home the title of Queensland Club Champion. Gymnastics Queensland's  biggest event of the year, the team-based spirit of this competition is one you don’t want to miss.

Gymnastics Queensland CEO Chris Rushton said, “Club spirit will be at an all-time high for the four-day event with almost 30 Queensland clubs attending, some from as far north as Mackay and Cairns.”

“It will be an exciting four days of competition; the Caloundra Indoor stadium is an integral aspect of this event and has been for many years. Families from across Queensland treat this event and opportunity to stay on the beautiful Sunshine Coast as a holiday, and we’re excited to bring our biggest event back to this venue for 2026”

Gymnastics Queensland has seen significant growth in our Special Olympics and Masters competitions, with participation increasing year on year.

“Gymnastics is for everybody, and we’re proud to host an inclusive opportunity for Special Olympics athletes from around Australia to showcase their dedication, skills, and love for the sport, and compete for a place on the podium. We’re also excited to invite past athletes, coaches, and mature-aged gymnasts of all skills levels and abilities to compete in the much-anticipated Masters competition,” said Mr Rushton.

“We would like to take the time to thank the Sunshine Coast Council for hosting this event. This is one of our most loved events, being held at one of our most loved venues”.

Premier gymnastics event delivers wins for sport, community and local business

Sunshine Coast Resilient Economy Portfolio Councillor Terry Landsberg said through Council’s Major Events Sponsorship Program, we’re proud to welcome and support another premier gymnastics competition on the Sunshine Coast.

“Bringing Queensland’s largest gymnastics championships back to Caloundra Indoor Stadium reinforces our commitment to sports development in a safe, inclusive environment, where athletes of all ages and abilities can compete and thrive,” Cr Landsberg said.

With more than 1,000 gymnasts and their families travelling from across the state, this four-day championship delivers a fantastic boost for local businesses, accommodation providers and tourism operators, while giving our community the chance to see some of Queensland’s best gymnasts — including youth, masters and Special Olympics athletes — in action right here on the Sunshine Coast.”

With four competitions in a massive four days of gymnastics, this event in Caloundra is not to be missed.
