Turtle hatchlings, Sunday Adventures and Buderim’s ‘waving man’ were the people’s favourites on Sunshine Coast Council’s social media in 2023.

Our community showed it was turtle-y in love with critically endangered loggerhead turtles with the top two Facebook posts of the year featuring videos of hatchlings making their way to the ocean. These videos attracted more than 3.1 million views! If you have not seen them already, watch the 107 little miracles head to the ocean here.

The late Peter Van Beek, Buderim's beloved 'waving man', will forever be in our hearts after the roundabout at the intersection of Stringybark and Ballinger roads was named in his honour in August. This Facebook post received more than 3800 likes and was widely shared.

Our top content shows the Sunshine Coast residents are enthralled with people, nature and all things uniquely Sunshine Coast.

A big thanks to our community for their 200,000 plus interactions with us on social media this year.
