Grommets will arrive on the Sunshine Coast this weekend for the Woolworths Surfer Groms Comp. The competition is designed to deliver a fun and friendly introduction to surf competition for surfers of all ages.

The Woolworths Surfer Groms Comp is the final event of the nationwide series before the National Final, which will be held at Casuarina, NSW from 16-18 December. The groms will be giving everything they've got for their last chance at qualifying, from under 8 mixed parent-assist through to the under 14 Boys and Girls divisions.

Surfing Queensland Event Manager, Elliot Dempster, said the Woolworths Surfer Groms Comp is an excellent introduction to competitive surfing for Queensland's young up-and-coming surfers.

"The Woolworths Surfer Groms Comp is a great mix of fun and competitive surfing for the groms," said Dempster. "We're thrilled to be hosting this pivotal event in each kids competitive journey. Event 10 of the series is always so exciting as the groms know it's their last chance to qualify for the Woolworths Surfer Groms Comp National Final."

The respective winners of the Under 14 boys’ and girls’ divisions from each event will receive an invite to attend an all-expenses-paid, three-day Woolworths Surfer Grom Comps National Final Surf Camp at the Surfing Australia High-Performance Centre (HPC).

The event is scheduled to begin at 7:30am on Saturday 9 December on the Sunshine Coast. Please check Surfing Queensland social media (@surfingqueenslandinc) in the morning to confirm the event location. Alternatively, call the Surfing Queensland event hotline (07 3030 6388).
