Winter brings the bumper crop of the year for subtropical areas like the Sunshine Coast, and a free online workshop is set to prepare your patch for prime production.

In the Time to Get Your Subtropical Patch Singing digital workshop, horticulturalist Claire Bickle will guide participants through all the advantageous and challenges of gardening in a subtropical climate.

Horticulturalist Claire Bickle

With more than 20 years’ experience, Claire is a subtropical gardening specialist with a passion for growing organic food.

As winter approaches in subtropical areas, the fruit flies are on the way out and the humidity is dropping, the perfect time to turn your food patch into a glorious dry season garden.

Supported by Sunshine Coast Council’s Living Smart Program, the Grow It Local initiative aims to bring fun and creativity to food growing, with the awards featuring quirky categories to engage growers of all means and expertise.
