March on the Sunshine Coast is going to be one of the region’s brightest, busiest and most feel-good months yet, with major sporting spectacles, live music and family friendly action rolling in across our coast.

One of the biggest weekends on the calendar lands 14–15 March, with the iconic Mooloolaba Triathlon bringing thousands of athletes and supporters to the heart of Mooloolaba for two days of racing and atmosphere. Adding to the energy, Ocean Alley will take over Sunshine Coast Stadium with their SummerSalt AUS Coastal 2026 tour on 15 March delivering sun-soaked good vibes and a stacked support line up.

Just behind the Stadium at Lake Kawana, paddlers from across Queensland will be powering through the Dragon Boat Queensland State Championships from 13–15 March, filling the lake with colour, camaraderie and plenty of splash-filled action. For those seeking calm, the Conscious Life Holistic Wellness Festival will be creating zen at Venue 114 across the weekend.

There will be changed traffic conditions for the Mooloolaba Triathlon set up and while it's is in progress. Check out this interactive road map to help you get where you need to go and allow extra travel time.

Together, these events create one unforgettable weekend that perfectly captures who we - active, creative, outdoorsy and always up for a good time. Whether you're cheering athletes along the beachfront, dancing the night away, or soaking up the buzz by the lake as the dragon boats pass, it’s a weekend that reminds us why there’s no place quite like the Sunshine Coast. And with so much happening in one hit, it might just be the only time you can justify wearing joggers, festival gear and a spectator’s hat all in the same 48 hours.

Sunshine Coast Stadium will also welcome the Queensland Oztag Championships - Senior State Cup on 6-8 March and the Hostplus Cup Round 4 - Sunshine Coast Falcons vs Clydesdales on 28 March.

Make tracks to Nambour

From the nostalgic market fair Collectorama to punk, blues, soul and country music shows — or hear from the first person to trek the world’s longest trail — Nambour is packed with personality this month.

Uncover Caloundra’s music scene

Bernard Fanning may be sold out, but you can still catch Baby Animals, DRAPHT and The Smith Street Band as they stop in. On a different note, choose from the Sunshine Coast Symphony Orchestra, Legally Blonde the Musical, Celtic Thunder, or a night of musical theatre and opera with Marina Prior, David Hobson, Silvie Paladino and Michael Cormick. Plus, Caloundra now offers FREE CBD parking with a 2-hour limit, for convenience.

Discovering Mooloolaba

Two luxurious cruise ships will drop anchor off Mooloolaba this month, bringing more than 1,200 guests to explore our slice of paradise. The Azamara Onward arrives 6 March on its 21-day journey from Sydney to Hong Kong, followed by the Seven Seas Mariner on 13 March as it cruises from Auckland to Benoa. Each visit brings a welcome swell of tourists — more feet on the boardwalk and more support for our cafés, shops and tour operators — reminding us just how important cruise visitors are to our local economy.

Community festivals and Harmony Week

Later in the month Maroochydore will transform into a sea of purple for the Epic Walk for DV on 22 March.

Expect hands on workshops, music, dance, meditation, shared meals, children’s activities and inclusive sports events. Highlights include the much-loved Harmony Cup football tournament and an online heritage program exploring multicultural stories from across the region.

Kings Beach Amphitheatre will go full colour spectrum with the Sunshine Coast Pride Network’s Fair Day.
