The Sunshine & Sons Distillery will host the Taste the Biosphere event on 7 November.

A free, family friendly celebration in Woombye celebrating our Sunshine Coast Biosphere is set to serve up the produce, makers, local stories and experiences that make our region special.

The Taste the Biosphere event at Sunshine & Sons on Saturday 7 November at 2pm-7pm aims to tantalise every sense, with local food and drink tastings, activities and crafts, guided nature walks, soundscapes and plenty more to discover.

Sunshine Coast Mayor Rosanna Natoli, who chairs the Sunshine Coast Biosphere Coordinating Committee, said the event was an invitation to experience our Biosphere and discover the small ways we can all contribute.

"People are at the heart of our Sunshine Coast Biosphere and this is a chance for our community to come together, meet the growers and makers behind our region's flavours, and celebrate this beautiful place we call home," Mayor Natoli said.

"Every decision we make matters: the things we buy, the neighbours we support, the places we care for – and every one of those choices helps create a better future for our children and their children too.

"Bring the family and come for the fun – and leave with some new inspiration about what you can do in your own backyard."

Taste the Biosphere is presented by Sunshine Coast Council in partnership with the University of the Sunshine Coast and Sunshine & Sons.

Event offerings include:

  • local food producers and tastings
  • family activities and crafts
  • guided nature walks and wildlife experiences
  • biosphere soundscapes and stories
  • and much more!

About the Sunshine Coast Biosphere

The Sunshine Coast Biosphere was designated in June 2022, internationally recognising our region as a member of the World Network of Biosphere Reserves by UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation).

The Biosphere includes everything from our natural areas and wildlife to every person, group and business, all connected and dependant on each other in creating a sustainable Sunshine Coast together.

It is our region’s commitment to sustainability and a reminder that we all have the power to make a difference through our daily actions.

Sunshine Coast Council acknowledges the Sunshine Coast Country, home of the Kabi Kabi peoples and the Jinibara peoples, the Traditional Custodians, whose lands and waters we all now share. We wish to pay respect to their Elders – past, present and emerging, and acknowledge the important role First Nations people continue to play within the Sunshine Coast community.
