Skateboard stars of future set to soar

The search is on for our most talented skateboarders at next weekend’s Sunny Skate Series

The search is heating up to find our most talented skateboarders with registrations open for the latest round of the Sunny Skate Series.

Event #3 is happening October 14-15, 2023 at the Alex Skate Park and categories include 9 and Under; 12 and Under and 15 and Under plus Open Male and Female.

The event features all three disciplines of skating, including Street, Bowl and Best Trick.

The series allows skaters to accumulate points over four events to eventually be crowned the outright champion.

It also provides a strong platform for the future generation aspiring for long and successful careers in the sport.

Economy Portfolio Councillor Jason O’Pray said Council was proud to support exciting events and competitions like the Sunny Skate Series.

“Skateboarding is really growing in popularity and professionally and is part of the program for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games,’’ Cr O’Pray said.

“Elite competition is something our Sunny Skate Series competitors can really aspire to.”

About the event

Founded by Sunshine Coast skate legend, Mat Chigwidden and renowned event organiser, Josh Allen, the Sunny Skate Series is a four-part event series that provides skaters of all abilities and ages, from all over the country the chance to compete and celebrate the joy of skating in some of the best skate parks Australia has to offer.
