Give the gift of reading this Christmas

Help local kids discover the joy of books by donating to the Books 4 Kids drive.

Sunshine Coast Libraries are inviting book lovers to support a heart-warming initiative that brings the gift of reading to children in need this festive season.

Since its launch in 2000, the Books 4 Kids annual book drive has delivered more than 13,000 brand-new books to vulnerable families, helping foster a love of reading.

Now through to 13 December, you’re invited to donate brand-new picture books, non-fiction, junior, and young adult titles at your local library. No gift wrapping needed - just drop off your donation and the library team will handle the rest.

Every donation helps children build their own home libraries, a vital step in developing strong literacy skills.

With the support of local charitable organisations, these books will be distributed to families just in time for Christmas.

Sunshine Coast Libraries are committed to making literacy and recreational reading accessible to all, ensuring every child has the chance to experience the wonder of books.

Sunshine Coast Council acknowledges the Sunshine Coast Country, home of the Kabi Kabi peoples and the Jinibara peoples, the Traditional Custodians, whose lands and waters we all now share. We wish to pay respect to their Elders – past, present and emerging, and acknowledge the important role First Nations people continue to play within the Sunshine Coast community.
