Gift the joy of reading with Books4Kids

This festive season, Sunshine Coast Libraries are inviting book lovers to support a heart-warming initiative that brings the magic of reading to children in need.

A child reading a book

Since its launch in 2000, the Books4Kids annual book drive has collected and distributed over 13,000 brand-new books to disadvantaged families, sparking joy and fostering literacy in young lives.

The books are distributed by several charitable organisations who work with disadvantaged families across the region. The appeal ensures that children can build their own home libraries - a crucial step in developing strong literacy skills.

Donations of brand-new picture books, non-fiction, junior, and young adult titles are warmly welcomed—no gift wrapping required! Simply drop off your donation at any Sunshine Coast Library and they will handle the rest.

The books will be distributed through local charitable organisations, reaching families in need just in time for Christmas.

Sunshine Coast Libraries are committed to making literacy and recreational reading accessible to all, ensuring every child has the chance to experience the wonder of books.

Sunshine Coast Council acknowledges the Sunshine Coast Country, home of the Kabi Kabi peoples and the Jinibara peoples, the Traditional Custodians, whose lands and waters we all now share. We wish to pay respect to their Elders – past, present and emerging, and acknowledge the important role First Nations people continue to play within the Sunshine Coast community.
