Boosting brain power through books and song

Learn, play and sing into 2024.

Storytime and Rhymetime sessions with library staff reading a book to children and their parents.

Learn, play and sing with your little ones in 2024 with free Storytime and Rhymetime sessions.

Sunshine Coast Libraries invite you to nurture your child’s love of language by reading and singing together at free early-literacy sessions. Sessions run weekly across all libraries.

Storytime sessions are best for children aged two to five. These sessions combine stories, songs and activities that encourage language, listening and motor skill development.

Rhymetime sessions are designed for children aged six months to two years. They are interactive sessions between caregivers and their little ones to help develop pre-literacy and language skills.

Your little one learns best from the most important people in their lives. Whether you’re a parent, family member or friend why not have some fun with the child in your life, all while helping with their early literacy.

Did you know that more than a million new connections are forming in your child's brain every second during their first few years of life? Studies show that up to 90 per cent of a child’s brain development happens in the first five years.

So, the more you read, talk, sing and play with your little one, the more their brain responds, building a solid foundation for their future development.
