National Volunteers Week will be held May 19-25 and this year’s theme is Connecting Communities.
Sunshine Coast Council Strong Portfolio Councillor Taylor Bunnag is calling on our community to give volunteering a go.
“Volunteering is an important part of a strong community and we’re very fortunate to have so many generous volunteers in our region who donate their time and skills to continue making the Sunshine Coast a wonderful place to live,” Cr Bunnag said.
“This National Volunteers Week, I encourage you to think about donating your time to local organisations in need and working alongside other community members.”

Currimundi Sport and Recreation Hall President Rhondda Alexander helps keep things running at the hall by washing, cleaning, doing bookwork and so much more.
“I’ve volunteered all my life because my mum used to, and I have grown up with volunteering,” Ms Alexander said.
“I like helping people and helping the community as much as I can.
“We need more volunteers to help keep the hall running. It’s one of the best halls in the community.
“To connect with the community is the most important thing and the hall is a centre point in Currimundi - it’s a meeting place for people to come together.
“We always need new volunteers, so if you would like to volunteer at the Currimundi Hall we would welcome you with open arms.”

Cr Bunnag thanked Rhondda and the hundreds of volunteers on the Sunshine Coast.
