Sunshine Coast Council Strong Community Portfolio Councillor Taylor Bunnag said All Access Day in the Park promised to be a great experience for everyone, with a range of accessible and inclusive activities.

“Everyone in our community deserves to experience all that our wonderful beaches and parks have to offer, and we’re proud to host the All Access days so people of all abilities can get involved,” Cr Bunnag said.

“I encourage everyone to come along and celebrate a day of community, fun and inclusivity at Kings Beach Park.

“You can visit the Cerge welcome tent for a warm greeting, enjoy a delicious barbecue, explore the sensory space and get your face painted.

“The event also features musical entertainment, extra beach wheelchairs for beach and water play and a variety of accessible games.

“Don't miss the silent disco and Stage Ability performances, adding to an already jam-packed day!”

Convenient drop-off zones and additional accessible parking will be available to ensure easy access for all.

On the Sunshine Coast people of all ages can use beach matting, wheelchairs and life jackets for free, and bookings are required.

Cr Bunnag said select surf life saving clubs provided the equipment on weekends and public holidays between September and May, with other arrangements sometimes available.

“Council is prioritising accessibility improvements at beaches and we’re proud to have developed our Accessible Beach Program in collaboration with our community partners,” Cr Bunnag said.

“The All Access Day at the Park and the Accessible Beach Program are outcomes of Council’s All Abilities Action Plan 2024-2028, working towards a more inclusive Sunshine Coast for people with disability.”

The Accessible Beach program is available through the Metropolitan-Caloundra Surf Life Saving Club, Coolum Beach Surf Life Saving Club, Mooloolaba Surf Life Saving Club and Dicky Beach Surf Life Saving.

A beach wheelchair and a beach walker are also available for hire from Compass Institute, Caloundra.
