Thanks to a partnership with Social Marketing @ Griffith and the Queensland Department of Environment and Science, the event will host a distinguished lineup of speakers, featuring experts from Sunshine Coast Council, Australia Zoo Wildlife Hospital, University of Sunshine Coast, USC Detection Dogs for Conservation, Queensland Koala Crusaders, and Department of Environment, Science, and Innovation.

  • Learn from David Mackenzie, a passionate Communications Consultant and Environmental Conservation Photographer in his third year as a Board member and Treasurer of Queensland Koala Crusaders Inc., who will share practical tips to save koalas covering topics such as responsible pet ownership to keep koalas safe, joining community efforts for koala conservation, and becoming a koala ambassador and inspiring others to act. As well as other local koala experts.
  • Listen to Prof. Peter Timms, an expert in microbiology from the University of the Sunshine Coast, share his groundbreaking research "Combating Chlamydial Disease in Koalas by Vaccination".
  • Learn about the Sunshine Coast Koala Conservation Plan from our Council's Conservation Officer Kate Hofmeister. As well as hear from other experts.
  • Learn from Dr. Amber Gillett, a dedicated senior veterinarian and coordinator of research at the Australia Zoo Wildlife Hospital, who will unveil the results of a 3-year study that tracked koalas released from the Australia Zoo Wildlife Hospital after treatment and rehabilitation.

This is an excellent opportunity to meet fellow wildlife enthusiasts and experts as well as explore the interactive event stalls.
