Call for patience as weather delays park mowing

Council teams care for almost 1100 hectares of parklands and reserves – equivalent to 1464 football fields – but many of these are currently saturated.

Weather conditions have made sites difficult to access, which increases the risk of damaging them if we do and also means mowing and collecting clippings is a challenge.

As many residents will be finding with their own yards, the extended warm weather and humidity also has supercharged grass growth.

We ask the community’s patience as our mowing and maintenance services go about their important work, which will step up once conditions improve.

We appreciate that you, our community, are our eyes and ears on the ground so If you see something urgent that needs attention, or is a risk to the community, you can log requests via our website, phone 5475 7272, or email us at [email protected].

Sunshine Coast Council acknowledges the Sunshine Coast Country, home of the Kabi Kabi peoples and the Jinibara peoples, the Traditional Custodians, whose lands and waters we all now share. We wish to pay respect to their Elders – past, present and emerging, and acknowledge the important role First Nations people continue to play within the Sunshine Coast community.
