Childrens book week.

Join Sunshine Coast Libraries to celebrate Children’s Book Week (August 19–25) and have some fun by participating in our very own battle of the books.

Be sure to visit your local library to submit your People’s Choice vote for one of Australia’s favourite children’s authors.

Each Sunshine Coast Library will have two different books to vote for and you will have the opportunity to pick your favourite.

Make your vote count from now until Wednesday, August 16 at all Libraries across the Sunshine Coast.

The winning books will feature as part of Book Week and be read at Storytime from Monday, August 21.

Visit Sunshine Coast Libraries website for more information.

Book Week Facts:

  • Each year since 1945 the Children's Book Council of Australia has brought children and books together across Australia through Children’s Book Week
  • During this time, schools and public libraries (like ours) spend one glorious week celebrating books and Australian children’s authors and illustrators bringing words, images and stories into the hearts and minds of children and adults.

Sunshine Coast Council acknowledges the Sunshine Coast Country, home of the Kabi Kabi peoples and the Jinibara peoples, the Traditional Custodians, whose lands and waters we all now share. We wish to pay respect to their Elders – past, present and emerging, and acknowledge the important role First Nations people continue to play within the Sunshine Coast community.
