Nestled on a beautiful ridgeline in the Sunshine Coast hinterland, a picturesque spot known as Mountain View Road Lookout has been enhanced and is ready for you to enjoy.
This serene location in Maleny, with its sweeping vistas of the hinterland and ocean, has long been a hidden gem for locals and visitors alike.
However, insufficient parking and safety measures often made it difficult for people to fully enjoy the breathtaking views.
You can find this lookout seven minutes’ drive from Maleny main street and 2.8 kilometres east of McCarthy’s Lookout.

Recognising the potential of this beautiful lookout, Sunshine Coast Council undertook works to bring the vision for improvements to life in under four months.
The newly completed Mountain View Road Lookout area features a shelter and seating area, inviting visitors to pause and take in the panoramic views - where the hinterland green meets the sea.
Parking has also been improved with 13 dedicated bays, including a disabled parking spot. This has helped road safety as the area is now more accessible for both motorists and pedestrians.
The thoughtful design includes traffic calming measures, earthworks, drainage infrastructure, and a retaining wall, all contributing to a safer and more enjoyable experience for all.
