Making the switch to receiving rate notices by email instead of traditional post has paid off for one lucky resident who is the latest lucky winner of Sunshine Coast Council’s ‘Win Your Rates’ competition.

Jeremy will get $1000 off his next rate bill after being drawn as the competition winner, which ran from 22 July to 21 August.

“I switched over to receiving my rate notices by email when I was working away. It made sense – if I had forgotten to pay an upcoming bill before I flew out I could take care of it from anywhere,” Jeremy said.

“The process was so smooth through MyCouncil, and receiving my rate notice by email makes payment convenient and easy.

“I am absolutely thrilled to be the winner of Council’s ‘Win Your Rates’ competition!

“I was caught a little off guard when I heard I’d won, ‘you beauty’ were the first words that came to mind!

“There are a few home improvements I’ve been hoping to tick off the list, so I’m looking forward to getting some new balustrades for my balcony.”

Sunshine Coast Council Finance Portfolio Councillor Ted Hungerford said the aim of Council’s ‘Win Your Rates’ competition was to encourage Sunshine Coast rate payers to make the change to receiving their rate notices electronically rather than via traditional postal services.

“Our environment is front and centre and Council is always looking for ways to operate in a more sustainable way,” Cr Hungerford said.

“Moving to an online system means ratepayers can receive their rate notices wherever they are, anywhere in the world and arrange payment in a convenient and timely manner.

“Owners of more than 60,000 properties have already made the change to receive their rate notices electronically.

“I encourage others who are still receiving their notices in the post to visit Council’s website, sign up to MyCouncil or login to their existing MyCouncil account and change their preferred delivery method from post to email.”

You’ll find a step-by-step guide to setting up your MyCouncil account and changing your preferred rate notice delivery method on the website..

For rate enquiries, please email Council at [email protected] or contact Council between 8.15am and 5pm, Monday to Friday.
