Take a seat, stay for the view! 

The Moffat Beach seawall reconstruction project has reached several major milestones, with the rock seawall nearing completion, with only minor adjustment works and the construction access track still to be built, and work progressing into the final stages. 

The project is restoring and strengthening a vital stretch of coastline while protecting community assets, public infrastructure and the much-loved foreshore from future severe weather and coastal impacts. 

Council is working closely with contractors, local businesses and the community to deliver the project as efficiently as possible while minimising disruption. 

Sunshine Coast Division 2 Councillor Terry Landsberg said the team had made significant progress over recent months, despite challenging weather, tidal and ocean conditions. 

"We know the community and local businesses are looking forward to seeing more of Moffat Beach reopen, and we're pleased to be working towards reopening the eastern car park and improving access to the foreshore ahead of the September school holidays," Cr Landsberg said. 

Beach clean-up activities are underway and construction areas will be progressively removed as works are completed, allowing more of the beachfront to be returned to public use. 

"We're now moving from the heavy construction phase into the finishing stages of the project," Cr Landsberg said. 

"Over the coming weeks, the construction footprint will continue to shrink and the foreshore will begin to look and feel more like the Moffat Beach everyone knows and loves." 

Eastern beach bar 

Another recent milestone is the completion of the new eastern beach bar, providing a fantastic new vantage point to take in the sweeping coastal views. 

Whether it's enjoying a morning coffee, watching the surfers or simply soaking up the sea breeze, the beach bar is already becoming a popular place to pause and enjoy the scenery. 

Western foreshore and fence 

Cr Landsberg said Council had listened to community feedback about the western foreshore area and, following a detailed assessment of options, had decided to replace the fence with a second concrete ground slab with a single height sandstone wall that matches the existing stone wall along the eastern section of the foreshore.   

The seawall reconstruction remains the immediate focus, with the western foreshore improvements planned to start after the September school holidays and take up to one month, with a smaller construction footprint. 

The project is expected to be fully completed and all remaining construction infrastructure removed by the end of October, weather and ocean conditions permitting. 

Moffat Beach is open! 

The beach, cafés and shops are open and ready to welcome you.
