The organisers of the Sunshine Coast Comedy Festival (SCCF) have just dropped a whole new batch of world-class comedy shows and unique Sunny Coast event activations into their 2022 festival program - and it’s HUGE.

The announcement sees an epic schedule of live shows announced for November’s coast-wide festival, adding to a star-studded lineup that celebrates diversity and inclusivity through the power of comedy.

Shows include the highly acclaimed Aboriginal Comedy All-Stars line-up, featuring a cast of Australia’s funniest indigenous comedians Sean Coolburra, Kevin Kropinyeri, Andy Saunders and Steph Tisdell. With sell-out seasons and 5-star reviews in the UK, Adelaide, Melbourne, Brisbane and currently enjoying a sell-out, award-winning run at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, this is a unique, highly informative and wildly entertaining showcase of indigenous talent and culture awash with dance, traditional music and, of course, huge belly-laughs, not to be missed.

Also on the bill, Strong Female Characters; showcases some of the country’s favourite comedic female heavy-weights. Not to be ignored, this bad girl packs a powerful punch, with an hour of rapid-fire, all-female comedy genius - an all-star line-up show with a sweet smile and a sucker punch!

From across the pond - Best o’ British return. An all-Brit show that’s been nominated BEST COMEDY SHOW at Perth Fringe World and is widely touted as the most popular International showcase on the Festival Circuit. Featuring the most hilarious bits from the most hilarious Brits; award-winners Georgie Carroll, Rory Lowe & Dan Willis, the Best o’ British promises to be a festival favourite yet again.

Festival organisers have something special for our adventurous comedy fans, with the return of several comedy tours which were a hit last year. For beer lovers; craft beer tours with a comedy twist - MC’d by the hilarious Rory Lowe - see guests hopping between local craft breweries, finishing up with the side-splitting Best Medicine show starring Rory and Heath Franklin’s “Chopper.”

For those who prefer a little bit of luxury and ocean views with their lols - the SCCF crew have teamed up with Saltwater Eco Tours to offer a floating Indigenous Comedy Cruise on the gorgeous vessel – Spray of the Coral Coast. Departing the iconic Mooloolaba Wharf, comedian Sean Choolburra with special guests (soon to be announced!) welcomes guests for a two-hour experience filled with laughter, stunning (native) grazing plates and gorgeous cocktails created by local distillers - Beachtree Distilleries.

And finally, not one, but TWO star-studded opening night galas - treating audiences both North and South to a smorgasbord of the festival’s top talent at Nightquarter in Birtinya and The J in Noosa on Thursday the 10th of August.

This new round of show announcements adds another impressive list of names and internationally acclaimed comedy to the Festival’s already expansive program, bringing world-class comedy to the Sunshine Coast’s most beloved venues.

The festival aims to delight locals and attract fans of comedy and the arts to our beautiful region from far and wide.

“We are committed to our vision to build this event into one of the most prestigious and recognised Arts Festivals in the country. With strong ambitions to make this the destination event on everyone's Must-Do calendar, and a view to a much stronger intra and interstate tourism focus, we are dedicated to creating a strong community presence…” says festival Producer Rebecca Chandler.

“It's our aim to create a festival renowned internationally for its unsurpassable comedy standard, warmth, community-focus and pure enjoyment for all that participate,” says Rebecca.

Fun, playful, inclusive, and accessible, this year’s Sunshine Coast Comedy Festival boasts a rich and diverse program, which truly caters to our rich and diverse community.

Today’s announcement adds to an award-winning initial lineup featuring Australian Comedy Royalty Tommy Little and Cal Wilson, and two of the countries most loved performers currently on the circuit – Ivan Aristeguieta and Heath Franklin’s ‘Chopper’ - and the Sunshine Coast is already buzzing with excitement.

The comedy festival is supported by Sunshine Coast Council through the Major Events Sponsorship program to encourage visitation to our Health Smart Creative region and feature on our Events.SunshineCoast calendar.
