Looking for a rewarding hinterland adventure? The Kureelpa Falls Circuit in Mapleton National Park offers spectacular valley views, lush rainforest and the chance to encounter an abundance of native wildlife along the way.

At 8.7 kilometres, this challenging circuit winds through the Mapleton ranges, descending into beautiful forest before leading walkers to the highlight of the trail, Kureelpa Falls.

A short detour from the main track reveals the hidden gem, where the South Maroochy River cascades over boulders before plunging 30 metres into a secluded gorge. The peaceful setting provides a perfect place to pause and take in the sights and sounds of nature.

The trail passes through open forest and rainforest habitats teeming with wildlife. Keep an eye out for monitor lizards, cascade frogs and a remarkable variety of birdlife. More than 295 bird species have been recorded in the area, making it a favourite destination for birdwatchers and nature lovers alike.

Suitable for walkers, mountain bikers and horse riders, the circuit offers plenty of variety along the way. While the trail is well marked, there are several side tracks throughout the forest, so visitors are encouraged to stay on the main route and carry plenty of water.

For those looking to extend their adventure, the nearby Piccabeen Circuit provides another opportunity to explore the natural beauty of the area.
