If you're looking for a Sunshine Coast adventure that combines peaceful bushland, mountain views and a fascinating glimpse into the region's past, the Soldier Settlers Loop in Glass House Mountains National Park is well worth the trip.

Starting from Beerburrum, this 8.5km circuit offers a different side of the Glass House Mountains experience. While many visitors head straight for the popular summits, this mostly flat trail winds through open forest and quiet tracks, making it a great option for walkers and mountain bikers looking for a more relaxed adventure.

Big views without the big climb

One of the highlights of the loop is the chance to enjoy uninterrupted views of the iconic Glass House Mountains as they rise above the surrounding forest.

The trail may be easier than some of the area's more challenging hikes, but it still delivers plenty of rewards. Along the way you'll pass the historic Beerburrum Cemetery and travel through landscapes rich in local history and natural beauty.

For those keen to soak up even more scenery, a short detour to Jack Ferris Lookout is highly recommended. The panoramic views across the mountain peaks are a fitting reward and a perfect place to pause and take it all in.

Keep an eye out for wildlife

Nature lovers are in for a treat, especially during the quieter parts of the day. Early mornings and late afternoons often bring sightings of black cockatoos moving through the area in large, noisy flocks.

The surrounding bushland is also home to a variety of native birds and wildlife, making the journey just as enjoyable as the destination.

After completing the loop, consider visiting the historic Dularcha Tunnel between Landsborough and Mooloolah, exploring the trails around Ewen Maddock Dam, or discovering more walking and mountain biking routes throughout Glass House Mountains National Park.
