For more than 20 years Sunshine Coast Libraries have showcased local emerging and established artist in their community artspaces.

All exhibitions are free and open to the public at Beerwah, Caloundra, Kawana, Maleny, Maroochydore and Nambour Libraries.

‘Pastel Era’ presented by Sunshine Coast Libraries in partnership with Caloundra Regional Gallery is the latest exhibition at the Maroochydore Library Artspace.

Chloe Watego is a South Sea Islander and Iman woman, based on Gubbi Gubbi/Kabi Kabi Country with a passion for sharing and celebrating her culture through art.

As a self-taught artist, Chloe uses painting for creative expression and to aid in healing as she continues to explore her family's heritage.

Born and raised on Yugambeh land, Chloe is of South Sea Islander descent and through her grandmother has ties to Torres Strait Island and the Bundjalung nation.

Chloe invites you to explore her artistic world and discover the captivating beauty of nature, the power of personal connections, and the shared experiences that shape our lives.

“The artworks are a means to shine a light on my family's enduring ties to the land while also illuminating the path forward for my children and future generations of my family,” Chloe said.

“The Pastel Era is a collection of artworks created while reflecting back on my connection to the Sunshine Coast.

“From summer holidays at my Pop's caravan as a child and teenager, to now living gratefully on these lands. The collection brings together my love for the ocean, spirituality and connection to place.”

The exhibition will be open until July 14.
