Sunshine Coast Council is pumping up the fun for Coolum with plans for a new pump track, and your feedback is invited!

Council is committed to providing high quality open space that supports active and healthy communities.

After engaging with the community in 2016, 2022 and 2023, Council finalised the Landscape Plan for Lions and Norrie Job Park, Coolum.

Sunshine Coast Council Division 9 Councillor Maria Suarez said one of the standout ideas from the landscape plan, and from her consultation with students at Coolum State Primary School and Coolum State High School, was a pump track for the park.

“We’ve drafted a concept plan for the pump track, which is going to be such a fantastic addition to Lions and Norrie Job Park for our community to enjoy,” Cr Suarez said.

“We need your insights to finalise the concept plan.

“The pump track will also mesh perfectly with the new basketball half court, making sure there’s plenty of action-packed fun for our young people.

“This is a great opportunity to help shape our local recreation areas, and another example of how we are connecting and engaging with our communities to build a better future for everyone.

Have your say

You can view the draft concept plan for the pump track online and share your feedback by filling out a quick survey from Monday, November 25 to 5pm on Friday, December 20, 2024.

You can also chat to a member of the project team on Saturday, December 7, 2024 from 10am to midday at Tickle Park, Coolum.

What makes a track a pump track?

It is a track where you generate momentum on your bike by up and down body movements, instead of pedalling or pushing.

Pump tracks cater to all members of the community, creating a space that unites people from diverse backgrounds.

You can road test Council’s popular Sugar Bag Road Pump Track in Caloundra West to see what makes a great pump track. It’s a track for all skill levels and will get your heart pumping!

Next steps

Your feedback will help Council finalise the concept plan.

Once finalised, the concept plan will be made available on Have Your Say Sunshine Coast.

The pump track is set to kick off construction in mid to late 2025.
