Guest speakers announced for Healthy Ageing Forum

Then come along for a day of fun and learning at the Healthy Ageing Forum 2022 on Saturday, November 26, where you can hear cutting-edge information from many inspirational and renowned speakers including a clinical neuropsychologist, nutrition and dietetics lecturer, music and creative industries lecturer.
Sunshine Coast Council Community Portfolio Councillor David Law said the line-up of speakers for the Healthy Ageing Forum 2022 looked great and provided useful and practical information.
“Speakers will present the latest research to help you maximise your quality of life and include experts from the University of the Sunshine Coast (UniSC), Sunshine Coast University Hospital and industry health practitioners,” Cr Law said.
“There will also be stallholders from local organisations, and opportunities such as ‘Move and Groove it’ and meditation sessions for hands-on fun and learning, so buy your tickets today!”
Healthy Ageing Forum 2022 speakers include:
Dr Sophie Andrews is a registered clinical neuropsychologist and Senior Research Fellow at UniSC, where she leads the Healthy Brain Ageing clinic at the Thompson Institute. Dr Andrews is passionate about supporting people to age well, and her research investigates how lifestyle can reduce dementia risk, and boost brain and cognitive health.
Rob Cross, founder of Never 2 Old 2, is on a mission to make growing older something we can all look forward to, assisting older Australians to change their mindset, and to find the support to help them embrace the opportunities of the 21st Century to enhance the life journey.
Dr John Endacott is a highly regarded geriatrician with most of his work involving care for people with various stages of frailty, cognitive impairment and dementia.
Michelle Aust is a Clinical Nurse Consultant with Queensland Health and leads the Cardiovascular Health and Rehabilitation programs across the Sunshine Coast Hospital and Health Service.
Dr Andy Ward is a lecturer of music and creative industries and leader of the creative industries academic discipline at UniSC. Andy is a songwriter, producer and researcher focusing on intergenerational creative and cultural exchange as a method for the improvement of health and wellbeing in ageing and older people.
Tania Wiesmayr-Freeman is a lecturer in Nutrition and Dietetics at UniSC. She is an Accredited Practising Dietitian and Accredited Nutritionist with over 25 years’ experience. She has extensive experience working in hospitals, including as an educator for Dietitians and other Health Professionals.
Dr Alexandra Metse is a lecturer and clinical psychologist in the School of Health and Behavioural Sciences at UniSC. Her research interests broadly focus on lifestyle and health, including how interventions to optimise lifestyle behaviours such as physical activity, diet and sleep might complement or enhance the benefits of existing mental health treatments.
This event is now in its second year and presented in partnership by Sunshine Coast Council and UniSC, supported with funding from Wellways Carer Gateway, and the Central Queensland, Wide Bay, Sunshine Coast PHN through the Australian Government’s PHN Program.
