Library+ Caloundra is ready to rewrite what you expect from a library, and it all begins at with an opening celebration on Monday 22 September.
The shelves are stacked, the toys are assembled, and the countdown is nearly over for the Sunshine Coast’s whole new library experience.
Library+ Caloundra is ready to welcome you on Monday, September 22, with an opening celebration from 10am.
Opening day celebrations
Join us for a lively celebration as we open the doors to this exciting new space at 1 Omrah Avenue, Caloundra.
Expect family-friendly fun, face painting, music, giveaways, and plenty of opportunities to explore.
Our specialist library teams will be on hand to help you navigate the space and discover everything Library+ Caloundra has to offer.
Explore the new library
Whether you're a lifelong reader, a curious kid, a budding podcaster or just someone looking for a fresh place to think, Library+ Caloundra has something new waiting for you.
Spread across two levels, the new library is designed to meet the diverse needs of our community.
You’ll find everything from cosy reading nooks and flexible seating to bookable meeting rooms, AV booths, and even a covered outdoor area for fresh-air reading.
The kids’ space is a standout: designed with play at its core, it features an activity wall, cosy reading cubbies and a vibrant play zone that encourages curiosity, creativity and hands-on learning in every corner.
And of course, the books are still front and centre, from page-turning fiction and children’s favourites to local history and digital resources.
What else you can expect in Library+ Caloundra:
- After hours reservation collection for those who can’t make it into the library during opening hours.
- Two acoustically treated Digital Studios, soon to be fitted out with audio and video recording equipment and editing software, ready to capture your best angle.
- Creative spaces where we will host some of our favourite hands-on library programs and kids activities.
- An exhibition space showcasing local and regional displays.
- A community jigsaw puzzle table for casual engagement.
- A ground-floor coffee shop for refreshments and social catch-ups.
- Ten library meeting rooms and multiple Library+ Venues for the community to book and enjoy. Express your interest in booking a space.
Beyond opening day
In the first weeks after opening, we’ll be hosting events to help you get to know the new library inside and out.
From guided tours that show off the building’s features and collections, to creative workshops and hands-on activities, there’s plenty to write home about.

Plan your visit
Library+ Caloundra is located at 1 Omrah Avenue.
Parking is available in the Nutley Street carpark (time-restricted), along with metered parking and unrestricted free parking in nearby streets – check the signs before heading in.
Library hours from 23 September:
- Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday: 8.30am–5pm
- Thursday: 8.30am–7pm
- Saturday: 9am–3pm
- Sunday: 9am–1pm
Foyer areas will be accessible daily from 7am to 8pm, excluding public holidays, to allow access to booked spaces.
