Funding support ready for community groups

Funding is now available for community groups to see their project come to life.

Funding is now available for community groups to see their project come to life.

Sunshine Coast Council’s Minor Grants program offers up to $2000 to support one-off projects and programs.

Community Portfolio Councillor David Law said funding would support projects that have broad community benefit.

“We’re calling on community groups to apply with projects that make our community more active, vibrant, inclusive, resilient and creative,” Cr Law said.

“Help your vision become a reality with Council’s Community Grants – apply today!

“Applications are now open and close on October 30.”

Council’s Community Grant Recipient Caloundra Community Centre Inc. was able to see their project Make Art, not war make a difference in their new community.

Baringa Community Centre Coordinator Tomas Passeggi said the project promoted social inclusion through the engagement of young people and comprised of a two-day workshop in street-art techniques and the creation of free-standing murals.

“The project linked and engaged young people to the Community Centre and activated a space which is not traditionally frequented by them,” Mr Passeggi said.

“We were thankful for the grant received by Sunshine Coast Council to be able to run an effective and creative workshop.”

Minor Grant applications can be submitted in one of six categories: 

  • Community Development
  • Community Facilities
  • Creative Development
  • Cultural Heritage
  • Economic Development
  • Sport and Recreation.

  • Round opens: September 18, 2023
  • Round closes: October 30, 2023
  • Notification anticipated: Early December 2023.

Community groups organising Christmas, New Year, Australia Day, ANZAC Day or Remembrance Day community events can apply online for a Festive and Commemorative Events Grant.
