There is something for everyone this festive season with Council supporting a number of initiatives across the region.

Festive and Commemorative Grants

With 36 community groups already successful in receiving multi-year funding to support their festive and commemorative events, you’re in for a treat. 

And, there’s still time! If you’re thinking of delivering a community event to celebrate Christmas, New Year or Australia Day, you can apply for a Festive and Commemorative Event grant.

Single-year funding of up to $15,000 for regional events and up to $3000 for local events is available to support costs associated with delivering these events. Applications must be submitted by 31 October 2024.

Get into the spirit with 25 decorated trees in Alexandra Headland, Birtinya, Buderim, Caloundra, Conondale, Coolum, Cotton Tree, Currimundi, Eudlo, Eumundi, Glass House, Kenilworth, Kings beach, Landsborough, Maleny, Mapleton, Marcoola, Maroochydore CBD, Montville, Mooloolaba, Mudjimba, Nambour, Palmview, Palmwoods, Woombye and Yandina.

Celebrate the new year

  • Mooloolaba: family-friendly celebration includes a fireworks display at 8.30pm as well as markets and roving street performers. Ends at 10pm. Council is not hosting any midnight fireworks displays.
  • Caloundra: This year there will be an 8.30pm fireworks display from Kings Beach.
    At this stage there is no event on the ground with the retirement of the previous event organiser, however grants are available through the festive and commemorative event fund for anyone interested in re-establishing the community event.
  • Coolum: 8.30pm fireworks display from Coolum Beach next to the Surf Club.
