The Kings Beach Ocean Pool (also known as the Sir Francis Nicklin Memorial Pool) is open again following a significant refurbishment.

The pool, which was closed to the public since 20 April 2026 during construction works, reopened for the community on 1 July 2026.

The upgrade included a full pool resurfacing, improved infrastructure and refreshed lane markings.

These works will improve safety, enhance the swimming experience and help protect the pool for years to come.

The pool was drained so crews could remove the worn surface and install a brand-new finish.

New tiles and grates were also installed, giving the facility a fresh new look and feel.

Located on the rocks at the northern end of Kings Beach, the ocean pool is a popular destination for swimming, exercise and relaxation.

The Kings Beach ocean pool features a 25-metre seawater pool, lifeguard supervision during summer, a wading area, accessible entry and a children's spray park (water fountain).

Improvements delivered

The refurbishment included:

  • a fully resurfaced pool
  • upgraded tiles and grates
  • improved lane markings
  • corrosion treatment and recoating of all shade structures and seating
  • full servicing of all pool pumps and filters
  • a new pool finish designed to enhance safety and longevity.

Council thanks the project team and locally based contractor for their efforts in delivering the upgrades and returning the facility to the community.
