Discover a lake, beach and bushland adventure
Enjoy an easy coastal circuit featuring lake views, beach walking, wildflower-filled heath and abundant birdlife.

A scenic circuit combining coastal heath, lake views, beach walking and abundant birdlife, this easy adventure showcases some of the Sunshine Coast's most distinctive natural landscapes.
Popular with locals, the 4.1km circuit winds through Kathleen McArthur Conservation Park, a special pocket of wallum heath nestled between the lake and the ocean.
Named after renowned conservationist and botanical artist Kathleen McArthur, the conservation park protects a diverse range of native plants and wildlife. In late winter and spring, the landscape comes alive with colourful wildflowers, including tea trees and banksias, which attract a variety of nectar-feeding birds.
The adventure begins on a sandy single-track trail through coastal bushland, offering glimpses of the lake through the vegetation before emerging onto the beach. A short stretch along the shoreline and nearby pathways completes the circuit, providing a varied walk that combines bushland, lake and coastal scenery.
With its flat terrain and relatively short distance, the trail is ideal for families, walkers and trail runners looking for a relaxed outdoor experience.
Whether you're chasing spring wildflowers, seeking a peaceful nature walk or simply looking for a new place to explore, this circuit offers a rewarding adventure close to the water.

Suitability
This 4.1km circuit is an easy-grade walk suitable for most fitness levels. The trail includes sandy bush tracks, beach sections and short paved connections.
Dogs are not permitted within the conservation park.
How to get there
Travel along Nicklin Way to Wurtulla. Turn towards the coast at the IGA intersection into Anuna Street, then left into Mandara Drive and first right into Bareki Street. Continue to the end of the road, where it joins Coongarra Esplanade. Parking is available nearby and the trail starts from the conservation park entrance.
Make a day of it
After your walk, continue exploring with the nearby Loop the Lake walk, which follows both sides of the lake and crosses via the pedestrian bridge.
The calm waters near the lake entrance are also popular for swimming, while nearby cafés and eateries provide the perfect spot for a post-walk coffee or meal.
This experience is just one of more than 250 walking, running, paddling, cycling, mountain biking and horse-riding experiences featured on Adventure Sunshine Coast.
