A six-month creative development program MadeSC, is supporting the region's artists working in any art form to generate new work on the Sunshine Coast and beyond.

The program kicks off with a dynamic one day intensive session, MadeSC Lab, held on February 22, at 2ND Space, Nambour.

High-profile creatives Rebecca Ross, Sarah Walker and Leisel Zink will facilitate the session and unpack the creative opportunities on offer.

Sunshine Coast Council Creative Arts Director Megan Rowland said the Annual Lab was a one day intensive for all artists on the Sunshine Coast.

"This will be a creative space to dream big, consider the impossible idea, and maybe shape it into new work for the new year," Megan Rowland said.

"The Lab is an annual weekend creative development intensive for artists, from emerging to the established.

"We want creatives to bring their bold ideas and new beginnings for a creative workout.

"During the Lab, participants can flesh out concepts and play with new ways of working, engage in critique and explore the context of their work, extend their networks and identify the next steps in their project."

About the program

Sunshine Coast Council Community Portfolio Councillor David Law said the Lab launched Council's six-month MadeSC program.

"MadeSC is a great Council initiative supporting artists through experimentation, professional development, and presentation," Cr Law said.

"The program is designed to develop skills, expand and provoke ideas, generate new networks, grow audiences and ultimately support the development of ideas and work inspired by our region.

"Participants can expect creative labs, workshops, mentorship models, residencies and presentation, developed and delivered in partnership with the creative sector."
