Cool cars, tunes and history at street festival
Half-century milestone brings community together for free day out

Classic cars, live music, yummy food and time travel ... this is your invitation to a special street festival being hosted by a historic Sunshine Coast town.
Sunshine Coast Council invites residents and visitors to enjoy a free, family-friendly day out at the Landsborough Museum Street Festival on Saturday 16 May, from 10am to 2pm.
Landsborough Museum, celebrating its half century, is located at 4 Maleny Street, just a short walk from Landsborough train station (with affordable 50 cent train fares).
The festival offers an easy and enjoyable occasion for people of all ages to come together and experience live entertainment, activities and local heritage.
Visitors can also step inside the museum to explore the latest exhibition, Grassroots to Glory: Around the Track, celebrating the Sunshine Coast’s sporting history and community spirit.
Strong Community Portfolio Councillor David Law said Council was proud to support Cultural Heritage Services programs that brought people together and made local history accessible to everyone.
"Whether you’re a history buff, a classic car fan or just after a fun Saturday with the kids, you’ll find something that makes the trip worthwhile,” Cr Law said.

What you can enjoy on the day
- Live music all day with Ol’Daze Band
- Free animal petting zoo, jumping castle and face painting for the kids
- Classic car display
- Community and Council stalls and interactive historical displays
- Food options including a Scouts sausage sizzle and an ice cream van.
Attendees can plan ahead using the “know before you go” accessibility tools available on the Heritage website, including a 360-degree virtual tour, sensory and accessibility guide, keyword sign and communication boards.
Come along to the festival on Saturday 16 May and enjoy a great community day out.

Discover Landsborough Museum (and why it matters)
If you’ve never been to Landsborough Museum, this is the perfect time to visit.
Housed in the heritage-listed former Landsborough Shire Council Chambers (opened in 1924), the museum brings local stories to life through artefacts, photographs and changing exhibitions.
It’s free to visit, open Wednesday to Sunday, 10am to 3pm.
This year’s festival also marks a major milestone, 50 years of Landsborough Museum.
Established in 1976 by the Landsborough and District Historical Society, the museum has grown through decades of volunteer dedication and community support.
Council took over management in 2022, supporting its long-term future as a place for exhibitions, education and community events.
“Preserving and sharing our Sunshine Coast history helps us understand where we’ve come from and strengthens the sense of belonging we all feel in our communities,” Cr Law said.
“This anniversary is a reminder that heritage is a shared effort, built over time by volunteers, community pride and Council support.”
You can find more information about the museum and festival day on the Heritage website: heritage.sunshinecoast.qld.gov.au.
This project is supported by the Sunshine Coast Arts and Heritage Levy.
The Levy, which is charged to every rateable property, is used to document, research, conserve, protect, promote and provide access to those tangible and intangible items, places, facilities and events that define the stories, history and values of the people, communities and culture of the Sunshine Coast.
