Whether you are new to the Sunshine Coast or have been here all your life, community gardens are a great way to meet people, share or learn gardening skills, grow your own food, compost, prepare and enjoy foods and more.

These gardens provide an opportunity to learn about sustainable living.

They also help build a sense of community and support your wellbeing and connection with the environment.

Start a garden

Locally, Sunshine Coast Council provides advice for people and community groups to start a community garden.

• Or you might like to start  verge gardening  with neighbours.

You can apply to start a community garden if your proposal meets these guidelines. Contact council to start your application.

You can also register to join other community volunteer programs. Help maintain parks or restore natural areas through great programs like Bushcare Sunshine Coast.
