OUTBOUND is a brand-new three-day festival, happening October 6-8 at Frank X Studio, Warana.
The festival is a must for dancers and dance lovers, offering performances, live music, installations and workshops featuring local, national and international artists.
OUTBOUND
Festival founders Ruby Donohoe and Courtney Scheu invite audiences and dancers to experience compelling, unexpected moments, spaces and connections.
“Dancers can register for a range of workshops on day three of the festival, which offer a rare opportunity to work with renowned artists and experience unique behind the scenes processes,” Ms Donohoe said.
“Anyone looking to grow or expand their practice or just experience the best contemporary dance has to offer should attend.
“OUTBOUND offers local contemporary dance and live art experiences, more often seen in the cities.
“The festival is a testament to the growth of the Sunshine Coast dance sector.”
OUTBOUND is supported by Sunshine Coast Council, through its DANCE.HERE.NOW, three-year development program aimed at increasing opportunities for artists to create, and audiences to enjoy, dance within the region.
OUTBOUND is also supported by the Regional Arts Development Fund.

COURTNEY SCHEU + RUBY DONOHOE
@rubybridgetdonohoe’s work is rooted in the politics of encounter. With a background in contemporary performance and a body-based practice, Ruby’s work investigates humankind’s simultaneous radical alienation from, and radical intimacy with, the personal body and the ways in which this paradox is an important hinge in unpacking our conceptions of ‘other’. Ruby explores expanded choreographic practices in participatory performance, installation and video.
Ruby’s works include solo exhibition x performance series THIS INCOMPLETE WITHOUT YOU (Caloundra Regional Gallery, 2023; Studio1 Exchange, 2023), LUNG WATER (APAM Showcase, 2022; Horizon Festival, 2021; Backbone How Soon Is Now Festival, 2019; & featured in Emergency Index Vol. 8, Ugly Duckling Press NYC), and AN ACT OF INTIMACY (Placemakers* 2020; Metro Arts x 2High Festival 2015; MKA subtxt festival x La Mama, 2015; & featured in Emergency Index Vol. 10, Ugly Duckling Press NYC). Ruby is also a founding co-director of @in_ari.
