Community leads clean-up of Nambour public space
A community-led initiative to improve the safety and amenity of a public space in Nambour has been supported by Sunshine Coast Council.

A community-led initiative to improve the safety and amenity of a public space in Nambour has been supported by Sunshine Coast Council, with a coordinated clean-up undertaken early this week (May 26–27).
Division 10 Councillor David Law said the clean-up was a positive example of how Council and the community could work together to care for shared spaces.
“We’ve had members of our community experiencing homelessness reach out to us for support in cleaning up the area,” Cr Law said.
“This is a great example of how we can work together to create safer, cleaner and more welcoming spaces for everyone.”
Sunshine Coast Mayor Rosanna Natoli said it was a combined effort between community and Council which delivered a better outcome for the people of the Sunshine Coast and Nambour in particular.
“I’m delighted to work with the local councillor and community members - because together we can achieve so much more,” Mayor Natoli said.
The clean-up involved placing skip bins for waste disposal by Council’s Waste and Resource team and undertaking a general tidy-up and assessment of the surrounding park area by the Parks and Gardens team.
Council’s Community Development team was also on site to support the initiative
Cr Law said the initiative aligned with Council’s Responding to Homelessness Policy, which reinforced Council’s commitment to maintaining public spaces for all members of our community.
