Selected Caloundra Music Festival artists will perform out in the community as part of the new CMF Spotlight program rolling out before the three-day music festival opens on September 30.

CMF Spotlight is a new initiative designed to extend the reach of CMF deeper into the Sunshine Coast region in the lead-up to the annual beachside event.

Sunshine Coast Council Economy Portfolio Councillor Terry Landsberg said it was great to see CMF vibes shared across our region thanks to this initiative.

“We’ve also taken a collaborative approach this year with two other major events – Buskers by the Lake and That’s Not My Dog! comedy festival,” Cr Landsberg said.

“We are supporting the comedy festival by supplying local talent through the CMF spotlight program and providing the busking festival winners an opportunity to perform on stage at CMF.

“‘Lamkin Lane’ winners from the “Surge” High School Rock Spectacular (August 17) will also perform at CMF this year, thanks to Beerwah State High School in conjunction with Lions Australia and council.”

Buskers by the Lake festival director Cindy Jensen said it was exciting that ‘Battle of the Buskers’ winners would perform at Caloundra Music Festival this year.

“Our over 18 winner, Tanya George from Melbourne, and our under 18 winner, James Desbrow from Caboolture, wowed Battle of the Buskers crowds and judges,” Ms Jensen said.

“They are so grateful for the opportunity.”

Adam James will perform at Kings Beach Amphitheatre on Saturday, August 27, with his local talent coming to the stage in addition to national artists Killing Heidi and Tripod playing the comedy festival That’s Not My Dog!

Wearing his heart on his sleeve, Adam is steadily growing his audience and reputation in the Australian music scene with hard work and brilliant stage presence.

He’s shared stages with Kim Churchill, Buttermello, Maggie Slater, Matilda Duncan and Voye, just to name a few, and sold-out local shows on the Sunshine Coast within days, as well as playing at Groovin’ The Moos mini festival - Freshly Squeezed.

Rocking a stomp box and guitar live, don’t miss the opportunity to see Adam tell his heartfelt stories raw and live. Tickets

Sunshine Plaza is ready to host award-winning artist and songwriter Mason Hope on September 10 at 1pm - ground floor, opposite the Cinnabon kiosk. This local star has a striking voice and talent that has already been acknowledged, winning the Gympie Music Muster Talent search, and the Trans Tasman Entertainer of the year. Mason has shown success with his original songs, making the APRA song of the year list Top 5 AMRAP charts, iTunes and Apple Music playlists, his latest video debuting on Foxtel.

Take a trip to Eumundi Square on September 21 and give your ears a luscious feast with JC and the Tree as you wander the Eumundi Markets. Remembered for their heartfelt and captivating performances, this Sunshine Coast born and bred indie folk duo will serenade you with beautiful original indie folk tunes. They also like to push boundaries and take you on a journey through genres where you'll hear gypsy/Spanish violin pieces, folk/metal rock songs, funky wah-wah violin grooves and of course soulful piano ballads.

Nambour Forecourt Live! on Friday September 16 is a free event, known for showcasing local artists and Darcy Kate will be no exception. A local singer-songwriter whose angelic voice tells her stories about love, connection and change, Darcy will perform from 4pm.

To entertain Saturday shoppers, one of Australia's most exciting up and coming singer/songwriter JaZZella will perform at the Sunshine Plaza (ground floor, opposite the Cinnabon kiosk) from 1pm on September 24. The vivacious 24-year-old Sunshine Coast musician has a voice that shines with individuality and attitude. When only three-years-old, the Sunshine Coast Daily published JaZZella's first full-page editorial which was boldly headlined 'This Star Was Born To Sing'. Twenty years on, JaZZella has performed thousands of shows world-wide.

CMF Spotlight runs from August 27-September 24 and is followed by three-days of music and entertainment at Kings Beach Amphitheatre for the 15th Caloundra Music Festival from September 29-October 2.
