One of the Sunshine Coast's most loved natural attractions, the Kondalilla National Park Rock Pools Walk is a favourite for generations of locals and a must-do experience for visitors wanting to explore the region's stunning hinterland.

The 2.7km return walk takes visitors through subtropical rainforest to the base of the spectacular Kondalilla Falls, where Skene Creek plunges 90 metres into the valley below.

Named from an Aboriginal word meaning "rushing waters", Kondalilla is at its most impressive after periods of rain, when the waterfall can be heard long before it comes into view.

The walk follows the Picnic Creek Circuit, with upper and lower pathways creating a loop through the rainforest. A short detour leads to the lookout and the popular rock pools at the base of the falls, providing a memorable reward for those willing to tackle the stairs.

While the more than 300 steps can be challenging on the return journey, the stunning scenery makes every step worthwhile.
