Meet The Refinery 4.0 cohort

Refinery is a Creative Incubator that transforms ideas into sustainable businesses, is made by creatives for creatives and based on the Sunshine Coast.

This year's program has officially kicked off with 15 creative entrepreneurs (or businesses) on the journey to bring their ideas to life with a 15-week program of masterclasses, workshops and coaching from leading industry mentors.

The program is an initiative of Sunshine Coast Council, SunCentral, SCCA: Sunshine Coast Creative Alliance Inc. 

Meet the Refinery 4.0 Cohort

• CA GALLERY is a fit-for-purpose, industrial exhibition space launching in Coolum by Joe McFeeters and Erin Castle, complementing their existing gallery and long term art framing business, Cool Art Picture Framing.

• Circ Design is a circular city making design and placemaking firm led by internationally experienced urban designer, placemaker, landscape architect and lecturer Catherine Simpson

• D.I.V.E. Theatre Collective is a multicultural contemporary physical theatre company led by Priscila Da Cunha and Cesar Genaro. D.I.V.E fosters the arts in the Sunshine Coast and provides work opportunities for artists based in the region.

• Far Out with Fat Dog is a 4WD adventure around Australia in the form of a fun, informative and positive documentary project by Sunshine Coast based artist, Sam Taylor.

• Fiona Cuthbert O’Meara is an artist working from her studio on the Sunshine Coast looking to add a product line to her current schedule of classes, kiln firings and her fine art practice.

• Hayden Hack is an award winning songwriter and musician who weaves and layers live looping within his guitar and vocal soundscapes.

• Spirit You is painter and poet, Fiona Harding’s project inviting a positive perspective of the world through her creations.

• Sunshine Coast Creative Collab is designer and visual artist Jaime Kiss’s foray into connecting the region’s creative and business worlds through creative collaborations.

• Odessa Mahony-de Vries is a multi-disciplinary artist working primarily in expressionist abstract painting on a large scale.

• Pippa Makgill is a visual artist exploring the idea of shifting materiality and the presence of the 'formless' in space through painting and sculpture.

• Studio Scout is an online P2P marketplace for creatives to find and book photoshoot locations to hire by the hour, with co-founder Jess Cutler.

• Shyanne Clarke is a visual artist telling the tales of the sea and working to inspire community with public installations and projects.

• The Forest Floor is a nature inspired ceramic business that offers retail and wholesale pottery, alongside workshop experiences by founder Tessa Robertson.

• Thoughts I Wanted To See is a retail project by fine artist Sam Holt. It celebrates ideas reaching more than 10 friends and has done since 2020.

• Yanni Van Zijl is an artist facilitating conversations on environmental and social topics through site specific artworks, installations, performances and participatory experiences.
