This relaxed Coastal Pathway combines ocean views, leafy shade and accessible paths for a feel‑good outdoor escape for everyone to enjoy.

The Marcoola to Mt Coolum Beach: Coastal Pathway is a beautiful short walk or ride along the coast beside Marcoola Beach. 

This one-way 1.6 km stretch forms part of the Sunshine Coast's iconic 73km Coastal Pathway, linking Marcoola to Mt Coolum Beach, with plenty of access points to the sand along the way.

Highlights

This tranquil and easy section of the Coastal Pathway is ideal even on hot days, with shady trees covering almost the entire route. It’s also a great option after light rain thanks to its solid surface.

  • Surfers can access Marcoola Beach via multiple side paths
  • Don’t miss the impressive boardwalk up to the lifesaving tower — well worth the short detour

There are exits on the residential side of the path that cross wetlands via boardwalks, leading to parks and amenities:

  • Access 98 – amenities block
  • Access 95 (Boardrider Crescent Park) – BBQ facilities, perfect for making a day of it

Afterwards

Make the most of your outing:

  • Take a walk up Mt Coolum for panoramic coastal views
  • Grab a coffee at one of the many boutique cafes around Mt Coolum or Marcoola
  •  Wander along Marcoola Esplanade , exploring the Marcoola North Foreshore and Lorraine Avenue precinct

How to get there

  • Take the airport turnoff and stay on David Low Way
  • Turn onto North Shore Connection Road
  • Turn right onto Petrie Avenue , then continue along Marcoola Esplanade
  • Parking is available near the start of the pathway and along the esplanade (usually easy except on busy weekends)
