Suitability
The Alex Forest Conservation Walk is a 1 km gentle bush walk, with some gradual rises and steps. Not suitable for wheelchairs or prams, but perfect for walkers.
Dogs are welcome on-leash.
Highlights
Tucked just 250m from the beach and busy Aerodrome Road, this quiet reserve offers 1 km of trails through 5.7 hectares of beautifully revegetated forest.
Along the way, you’ll wander through a mix of habitats – from wet eucalypt and open forest to pockets of lowland rainforest.
Keep an eye out for:
- Towering Flooded Gum and Tallowwood trees
- Cabbage palms and lush greenery
- Microbats and ringtail possums
- Curious bush turkeys
It’s a small but surprisingly diverse sanctuary right in the heart of Alex.
Afterwards
Make a morning of it:
- Wander through nearby Nelson Park (Duck Pond Park)
- Visit the Alex Community Garden
- Or stroll back to the beach for a swim and a coffee or snack











How to get there
Access via Alexandra Parade, turning into Mari Street near Alex Surf Club.
Start of the walk is signposted at the top of the street.
