Strength through collaboration: A First Nations showcase
From bushfoods and technology to strategy and creative arts – a celebration of First Nations enterprise, excellence and economic prosperity will take place on the Sunshine Coast as part of Indigenous Business Month.
The Sunshine Coast First Nations Business Showcase will bring together First Nations businesses, entrepreneurs, industry, government and community for an afternoon of connection, culture and collaboration on Tuesday, October 14 at The Station, Birtinya.
The showcase will feature an expo of more than 40 First Nations businesses with markets stalls, cultural performances, expert panels, business pitches and tailored masterclasses - all designed to support and promote First Nations businesses.
Sunshine Coast Mayor Rosanna Natoli said the event was a powerful platform to honour the achievements of First Nations entrepreneurs in our region.
“This is more than just a showcase of success - it’s also a space for connection, culture and meaningful collaboration,” Mayor Natoli said.
“For businesses, this is a unique opportunity to meet a diverse range of First Nations enterprises, explore potential partnerships, and discover innovative products and services.
“Whether you're looking to diversify your supply chain, learn from Indigenous-led innovation, or build meaningful relationships that support reconciliation in action, this event offers practical pathways to do just that."
The event aims to showcase the diversity, expertise and excellence of First Nations businesses across industries by strengthening procurement pathways that connect them with government, corporate and community buyers.
Carly Forrest, Mandandanji woman and founder of First Nations business consultancy, The Dreaming Collective, has been selected to MC the showcase and facilitate an engaging panel.
“I’m thrilled to be part of the Sunshine Coast First Nations Business Showcase and I encourage everyone to attend,” Ms Forrest said.
“It’s about moving beyond symbolism to demonstrate real commitment, with industry and community working side by side to achieve lasting economic prosperity for First Nations people.
“Together, we can expand opportunities and ensure the Sunshine Coast’s First Nations business ecosystem remains vibrant and strong.”
Strength through collaboration panel
One of the event highlights will be hearing from a dynamic panel of First Nations leaders sharing their stories, knowledge and practical tips.
The panellists include Embrace Tech founder Rory Chapman, The Black Card and BlakCast managing director Mundanara Bayles, Woolworths general manager of social impact Adam Bray and Stockland Queensland’s Indigenous Engagement Manager Holly Johnson.
